Mazal Shaul

Dr. Mazal Shaul is the Executive Director of WePower, a non-partisan NGO which promotes and trains women to public and political leadership positions, raising awareness to the gender gap and leading legislation on gender-equality issues in Israel. Mazal holds a Ph.D. in Supramolecular Chemistry from the Tel Aviv University, and throughout her professional life has served in key positions in management of Research and Development projects in major companies such as Hadassah, Ein Kerem’s Cyclotron Unit, Bioline and Teva. Mazal is a certified group facilitator and a personal coach. She is in her third term as a Council Member in Azor local municipality and serves as the local Commissioner for the Advancement of the Status of Women and Gender Equality. For almost 15 years Mazal was the Chair of Azor’s Emmanuel Regional Community Center as well as the head of Parents Committee and Board of Directors’ member of the Economic company. In the recent 2018 municipal elections Mazal also ran for mayoral position and gained 35% support while concurrently she led an ad-hoc national coalition of 28 women’s organizations, aimed to increase the number of women candidates in the municipal elections. In 2018 and 2019 Mazal was the speaker representing WePower at the UN’s Conference on the Status of Women (CSW). According to Mazal, “my visionary leadership means being a role model to others. It is to walk the talk and act.   I also believe in training individuals to act as a group making the whole, greater than the sum of its parts. Different people, each of whom have their own vision and added values make the whole group so much stronger and more effective.”
